Body:The body of this CE-L1 model is built with a beautiful Grand Auditorium shape, which provides a perfect balance between the desirable tonal qualities of a dreadnought and the versatility of a smaller body size. Mineral oil finish on the laminated layered teeth-edged Sapele back and sides not only enhances the guitar's visual appeal but also adds to its durability.
Top:Sitka Spruce, an excellent tonewood known for its responsiveness and rich, warm sound, adorns the top of this CE-L1 Taylor model. Its pleasing visual grain pattern and exceptional tonal characteristics add a touch of brilliance and clarity to the guitar's sound.
Neck and Fingerboard:This guitar boasts a solid Brazilian eucalyptus neck, which not only offers excellent stability but also adds a touch of unique character to the instrument's overall tone. The Gotoh gold tuning machines provide smooth action, ensuring that your tuning remains stable during performances. The fingerboard and bridge are made of richly grained exotic Ebony, contributing positively to the guitar's aesthetic appeal and tonal qualities.
Electronics:One of the standout features of the CE-L1 model is its Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup. This advanced designed under-saddle piickup captures the guitar's delicate nuances and intricacies, allowing you to reproduce its authentic acoustic tone through an amplifier or PA system. The System 2 includes a slim volume control knob, a fully adjustable micro-hex screw soundhole mount, and an easy-to-access 9-volt battery compartment.
Additional Features:Additional features this guitar offers include accessible strap button placement, Taylor's renowned barre ess slots for improved string alignment and ease of play, and a Venetian cutaway, which grants access to the upper frets without compromising the structural integrity of the body.
In conclusion, the CE-L1 Electric-Acoustic Taylor Sitka 2003 Grand Auditorium Bodied Brazilian Caribbean Expressions Model is an exceptional instrument offering the best of both worlds. It delivers rich acoustic tones with the added versatility of an electric guitar, making it an excellent choice for musicians seeking a highly versatile and responsive instrument.

Cons:- Higher price point due to its high-quality materials and electronic features
- More fragile Brazilian Rosewood may need more careful handling to prevent damage

- Heavier than standard acoustic guitars due to the built-in electronics
In conclusion, the Taylor CE-L1 810-Brasilian Expression guitar appeals to musicians seeking top-tier sound quality, advanced electronic features, and the classic aesthetic of Brazilian Rosewood. I see many loft's for sale but this is not one. I am glad to have enjoyed it but I must part with it so enjoy as I have. With the scarcity of ebony and the very limited and controlled supply of brazilian rosewood particularly of this quality, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
In 2003 the body depth was increased and it is a cannon. I have many guitars and this one is a real standout. This is a absolutely beautiful and rare guitar, selected personally by me for the straight grain of the brazilian rosewood, the translucent sitka spruce and the amazing tonal character of the sound of this guitar. Beautiful black ebony fret board and inlays.
