The Taylor 954ce, released in 2009, is an exceptional example of Taylor Guitars' commitment to creating superior musical instruments. This Grand Auditorium sized acoustic-electric guitar boasts a stunningly beautiful layered Sitka spruce top, featuring the innovative and aesthetically pleasing Venetian cutaway. In this product description, we will delve deeper into the captivating attributes of the 954ce, focusing on its construction, tone, playability, and modern features.
Design and Build:The design of the 954ce Grand Auditorium body shape offers versatility and robust tone production. Its harmonious dimensions enable players to deliver powerful, resonant sound with excellent balance and clarity. At its heart lies a layered Sitka spruce top that showcases Taylor's exceptional woodworking and lamination techniques. Sitka spruce is renowned for its elasticity and ability to deliver large, dynamic sound, rendering the 954ce an ideal choice for various playing styles and music genres.
The back and sides of this guitar are crafted from laminated sapele wood, providing both resistance to moisture and a rich, tonally balanced sound that complements the Sitka spruce top. The combination of tonally enhancing materials, precise construction, and Taylor's renowned craftsmanship results in an instrument that is not only visually stunning but also sonically impressive.
Modern Features:The 954ce is a fusion of old-world craftsmanship and advanced technology. Incorporating the Expression System 2 (ES2) pickup, Taylor's proprietary under-saddle transducer system, this guitar ensures optimal and natural sound reproduction when amplified. The ES2 system boasts a built-in pre-amp that allows easy access to a 3-band EQ, allowing players to tailor their tone for performing in various environments, while also offering a balanced tone with minimal feedback.
Playability and Comfort:The 954ce's neck, crafted from solid tropical mahogany, is reinforced with carbon fiber in Taylor's IMPALA process for added durability and stability. Its 1-3/4 inch nut width and 25.5-inch scale length foster comfortable playing for most finger-style and strumming techniques, making this Taylor a favorite among professional and semi-professional musicians.
Conclusion:In summary, the 2009 Taylor 954ce is a magnificent fusion of classic design, exceptional construction, and modern innovation. Its Sitka spruce top enhances sonic complexities, while the layered sapele back and sides bolster tone stability and resistance to humidity. Equipped with a revolutionary Expression System 2 pickup and unparalleled playability, this Grand Auditorium-sized acoustic-electric guitar offers players a full-bodied, harmonically rich sound with an easy-to-play design that can be showcased both on stage and in the studio.

I reserve the right to end this listing early if the guitar sells through local advertising or my reverb listing. As on all the 900 series Taylor's this model is getting very hard to find as it is no longer in the Taylor catalog although I imagine it is still available build to order. If you are overseas you should inquire about shipping costs before concluding the deal. It has never left my guitar room and has no wear no dents, dings, scratches, fret wear no wear of any kind.
The grand auditorium size is very handy in the 12 string configuration and feels quite natural. Lots of nice appointments, inlays, gold tuners, etc. The guitar has an Angelina spruce top and rosewood back and sides and has the built in Taylor expression electronics.
The fret board and bridge are ebony. The Taylor 12 string neck is, as always, above reproach and phenomenally easy to play. No surprise there.
This is a mint condition 2009 Taylor 954CE grand auditorium size 12 string guitar.
