This model is a part of Takamine's renowned Nylon Series, which has been a favorite among musicians for its superior craftsmanship and innovative design.
The body of the NP-65C is crafted from solid Cedar for the top, with a back and sides made of Mahogany. The Cedar top provides a warm, rich tone, while the Mahogany back and sides deliver a robust, balanced sound. The neck is made of Mahogany and features a 12-inch radius Rosewood fretboard, with 21 frets. The scale length of this guitar measures 650mm (25.6 inches), making it ideal for those with a preference for a slightly shorter scale length.
The NP-65C is an electric-acoustic guitar, meaning it comes equipped with a built-in preamp system. This system allows for volume control, tone shaping, and a low-cut filter to reduce unwanted bass frequencies when amplified. The guitar also features a set of under-saddle piezo pickups that provide a clear and authentic representation of the guitar's acoustic tone when amplified.
Additional features of the NP-65C include a Rosewood bridge, which provides excellent stability and transfer of vibration from the strings to the body, and a synthetic bone nut and saddle. The guitar comes with a hard shell case to protect it during transportation and storage.
The NP-65C's classic design, superior craftsmanship, and versatile tonal capabilities make it an excellent choice for both seasoned musicians and beginners looking to explore the world of nylon-string electric guitars. Whether played acoustically or electronically, this guitar delivers a rich, resonant sound that is sure to inspire and captivate.
The Takamine NP-65C, a classical-shaped electric guitar produced in 1993, comes with several distinct advantages and disadvantages for potential buyers. Let's explore these points to help you make an informed decision.
Advantages:1. Solid Top Construction: This guitar features a solid cedar top, which is known for producing a rich, warm tone. Solid tops are typically preferred by players for their superior tone quality compared to laminate tops.
2. Cutaway Design: The NP-65C includes a cutaway design, making it easier for players to access the higher frets. This can be especially beneficial for classical guitar players who often need to reach those more challenging positions.
3. Electrified: With built-in electronics, this guitar offers the flexibility to play silently through an amp or headphones, making it a great choice for practicing in quiet environments.
4. Classical Tone: The classical shape, together with the solid cedar top and scalloped bracing, results in a guitar that delivers the traditional, mellow tone associated with classical instruments.
5. Durability: Takamine is renowned for producing high-quality instruments, and the NP-65C is no exception. Its construction ensures that it can withstand the rigors of regular play.
Disadvantages:1. Age: Being a 1993 model, the NP-65C may have some signs of wear and tear, which could impact its playability and appearance. Additionally, older components may not function as efficiently as modern alternatives.
2. Setup: Depending on its condition and previous ownership, the guitar may require a setup to ensure optimal playability. This could result in additional costs.
3. Weight: Classical guitars, in general, tend to be heavier than their acoustic or electric counterparts. This could be a concern for players who travel frequently or have mobility issues.
4. Limited Versatility: While the NP-65C offers a rich, classical tone, it may not be suitable for various playing styles or genres. Players seeking versatility might prefer a different type of guitar.
Conclusion:The Takamine NP-65C classical electric guitar from 1993 presents an intriguing option for players who value the traditional tone of a classical guitar, combined with the convenience of an electrified instrument. Its solid top construction, cutaway design, and built-in electronics offer several advantages. However, potential buyers should be aware of the guitar's age, potential need for setup, and limited versatility. Ultimately, if the NP-65C fits your desired tone, budget, and playing style, it could be an excellent investment. Otherwise, it might be worth considering newer or more versatile alternatives.
