The Alvarez MC90C is a solid wood concert-sized acoustic guitar that is known for its high-quality construction and rich, resonant sound. Here are some pros and cons to help you decide if this guitar is the right choice for you:
Pros:1. Solid Wood Construction: The MC90C features a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and a solid mahogany neck. Solid wood guitars offer superior tonal quality and resonance compared to laminated wood guitars.
2. Rich, Full Sound: The solid wood construction, along with other features such as the scalloped X-bracing and the real bone nut and saddle, contribute to the MC90C's rich, full sound.
3. Playability: The guitar features a compact concert-sized body, which makes it easy to play, especially for those with smaller hands. The neck profile is also comfortable and allows for easy playability up the fretboard.
4. Cost-Effective: Compared to other solid wood guitars in its price range, the MC90C is a cost-effective option.
5. Building Quality: Alvarez guitars are known for their high-quality construction, and the MC90C is no exception. The guitar is well-built and durable, making it a great investment for the serious musician.
Cons:1. Action Height: Some buyers have reported that the guitar's action height may require adjustment out of the box, which could require additional setup costs.
2. Finish: The MC90C features a gloss finish, which can make the guitar slippery to play and require more frequent maintenance to keep the finish looking good.
3. Bridge Placement: The bridge placement on some MC90C guitars may be too far back, which can impact intonation and lead to tuning issues.
Conclusion:The Alvarez MC90C is a high-quality, cost-effective solid wood concert-sized acoustic guitar. Its rich, full sound, solid wood construction, and comfortable playability make it an excellent choice for musicians looking for a solid wood guitar without breaking the bank. However, some minor setup issues, such as the action height and bridge placement, may require additional costs. Overall, the MC90C offers great value for its price and is a solid investment for the serious musician.
Recommendation:If you are in the market for a solid wood concert-sized acoustic guitar, the Alvarez MC90C is certainly worth considering. However, be prepared for some minor setup issues and consider purchasing a guitar with a satin finish if you prefer a grippier surface for increased playability. If you are a beginner, you may also consider purchasing a guitar with a slightly larger body size or a laminated wood top to make the learning process easier. Otherwise, the MC90C is an excellent choice for the serious musician seeking a high-quality, solid wood guitar.
This one out plays and sounds my cy140, there is actually no comparison, they never stayed with series very long opinion for all its worth it was getting too close to the Yuri model. Beautiful Alvarez master class guitar with on board electronics and tuner. Can't say much about the electronics as it was only plugged in a couple times I just never needed extra sound.
I have seen Brazilian rosewood with less grain and beauty. All solid wood, front is cedar and back sides are rosewood. This tuner is as good any I have used including very sensitive ones. The guitar itself hardly ever get out of tune.
Right now it could use a set of new strings which I would be more than happy if someone wishes to put on before shipping know for myself like hear with the old then change them out. These have not gone flat just it is time seeing some discoloration on the wound ones. As you can tell by the picture grain in rosewood is stunning.
When I purchased it there was a up charge for the tweed case from original one can't recall but believe 80.
