LH-280CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar by Washburn Vintage Series B0101

The LH-280CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar, a part of Washburn's Vintage Series B0101, bridges the gap between classic styling and contemporary playability. This exquisite instrument is a testament to Washburn's commitment to delivering high-quality electric guitars with a rich sonic heritage.

Body & Construction:

This semi-hollow archtop guitar boasts a beautifully figured Maple veneer body. The body style pays homage to the classic 1950's design, while its hollow construction contributes to its resonant tone. The Maple top adds brilliance and clarity, complemented by the Mahogany back and sides that provide warmth and enhanced sustain.

Neck & Fingerboard:

The LH-280CSN features a solid Mahogany set neck with a traditional Scale length of 25.5 inches. A 12"-16" compound radius fingerboard accommodates both chord strumming and single-note solos, making it an ideal companion for various playing styles. The rosewood fingerboard comes adorned with dot inlays, providing an elegant contrast against the Maple bindings.

Hardware & Electronics:

Chrome hardware complements the LH-280CSN's vintage aesthetic. The Tune-O-Matic bridge with a stopbar tailpiece ensures precise intonation and smooth transfer of string energy to the body for optimal tone and sustain. Washburn equips this guitar with a pair of custom Seymour Duncan humbucking pickups, capturing the desired warmth and brightness for both rhythm and lead playing. The control layout includes a three-way pickup selector, single volume knob, and master tone control.

Additional Features:

The LH-280CSN's headstock is carefully engraved with the "Loar by Washburn" logo, adding a touch of authenticity. This guitar ships with a high-quality hardshell case, ensuring your instrument arrives safely and remains well-protected during transportation and storage.

The LH-280CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar is a perfect blend of retro charm and modern amenities. Whether you're gazing at its stunning appearance, strumming chords, or exploring intricate solos, this instrument offers an unparalleled playing experience that is sure to impress both seasoned musicians and guitar enthusiasts alike.

A Detailed Analysis of the LH-280-CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar by Washburn: Pros, Cons, and Conclusion

The LH-280-CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar by Washburn is an intriguing instrument that has garnered attention due to its unique design and features. In order to help potential buyers make an informed decision, let's explore the pros and cons of investing in this guitar.

Pros:

1. Vintage-inspired design: This guitar boasts a classic archtop hollowbody design that is reminiscent of vintage instruments. It features a Loar F-holes, bound body, and a "C" shaped maple neck that replicates the look and feel of guitars from a bygone era.

2. High-quality tonewoods: The LH-280-CSN features a solid maple top, mahogany back and sides, and a maple neck. These tonewoods are known for producing rich, appealing tones that free-airs, semi-acoustic, or solid body guitars can't replicate.

3. Seymour Duncan pickups: Two Seymour Duncan SSL-4 Jazzy-Mod humbucker pickups are installed, offering versatility in terms of tone. These pickups produce a clear and articulate sound with plenty of output, making them ideal for various genres.

4. Adjustable truss rod: This feature ensures the neck remains stable as the guitar acclimates to changing environmental conditions. It also offers the ability to make minute adjustments to maintain correct neck relief.

5. Gotoh Tuning Machines: High-quality Gotoh Tuning Machines provide flawless tuning stability, minimizing the need for frequent re-tuning.

Cons:

1. Set neck construction: Some guitarists may prefer a larger fretboard radius or scale length commonly found in modern guitars. However, the set neck construction of the LH-280-CSN can make it feel more familiar to dedicated archtop guitar players.

2. No adjustable bridge saddles: For fine adjustments to intonation, the guitar comes with a non-adjustable Tuneomatic style bridge. This could potentially cause slight intonation issues when changing string gauges or for specific playing styles.

3. Relatively heavier compared to solid-body guitars: Given the semi-hollowbody construction, some players might find this guitar to be significantly heavier than their typical solid-body instruments.

Conclusion:

The LH-280-CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar by Washburn is a high-quality instrument that offers a unique blend of vintage design and modern features. With its rich and articulate tone, versatile Seymour Duncan pickups, and high-quality tonewoods, it's an excellent option for players looking to add a vintage-inspired archtop guitar to their collection.

However, it's important to keep in mind that this guitar may not be suitable for every player due to its set neck construction, heavier weight, and non-adjustable bridge saddles. Nevertheless, considering its pros and taking its cons into consideration, the LH-280-CSN can be a wise investment for electric guitar enthusiasts and jazz players seeking a classic look and sound.

Recommendation:

If you are a serious jazz or blues player who appreciates the classic vibe, tone, and appearance of archtop electric guitars, the LH-280-CSN Loar Archtop Hollowbody Electric Guitar by Washburn is undoubtedly worth considering. Its high-quality components and vintage-inspired design make it an excellent instrument for creating authentic and expressive musical performances.
