If you're in search of an instrument capable of delivering stunning sonic performance both on stage and in the studio, look no further than the SD-50E.
Crafted with exceptional attention to detail, this masterpiece showcases an elegant Sitka Spruce top, which is known for its exceptional tonal clarity and balance. The meticulously selected Sitka Spruce top delivers crisp highs, radiant mid-ranges, and powerful bass response, creating a full, well-balanced sound that is perfect for various playing styles and genres.
The back and sides of this stunning instrument are fashioned from beautiful Mahogany, providing a warm and rich tone with excellent sustain and projection. This fine wood not only complements the top's tonal qualities but also adds depth and warmth, resulting in a remarkable and harmonious overall voice.
The SD-50E takes pride in its authentic and comfortable dreadnought body shape, boasting a broad lower bout and a light, tapered waist, providing excellent volume, balance, and easy playability. The neck, made of both Mahogany and Walnut, is capped with a beautifully grained Rosewood fingerboard, ensuring silky smooth playing experience and responsive action.
Incorporating the latest in acoustic-electric technology, the SD-50E is equipped with a discreet Fishman Sonitone electronics system. This innovative design provides a beautifully balanced sound when amplified, allowing musicians to express their art in larger settings while maintaining the authentic, natural acoustic sound. With simple controls for volume and tone, this system grants the performer complete command over their live sound, ensuring a fantastic experience for both the artist and the audience.
Additionally, the LARRIVEE SD-50E comes with a luxurious hardshell case, ensuring your investment remains protected when not in use or during transportation. This fine instrument truly encapsulates the perfect combination of tone, craftsmanship, and technology, making it a must-have for any serious musician looking to elevate their sound and performance.
The Larrivee SD-50 and SD-50E are mid-range Dreadnought acoustic guitars from Larrivee Guitars, released in 2014. The SD-50 is a solid wood model, while the SD-50E is an electronically equipped version. Let's evaluate each guitar based on their pros and cons:
SD-50: Pros:1. Solid Wood Construction: The SD-50 is made primarily of solid wood, which allows for better resonance and superior tone.
2. Versatile Sound: The Solid Sitka Spruce top and Solid Mahogany back and sides provide a well-balanced tone with strong fundamentals, making it suitable for various music styles.
3. Playability: The 1.75 nut width, 25.5 scale length, and C-shape neck make this guitar comfortable and easy to play.
4. Quality Craftsmanship: Larrivee is known for its precision craftsmanship, ensuring each guitar meets high standards.
Cons:1. Limited Fingerboard Inlays: Some players might find the minimalist dot inlays less visually appealing.
2. Price Point: The SD-50 is priced mid-range and may not be suitable for those with a tight budget.
3. No Electronics: For those who require an on-board pickup system for live performances or recording, the SD-50 may not be an ideal choice.
SD-50E: Pros:1. Balanced Tone: Like the SD-50, the SD-50E features a Solid Sitka Spruce top and Solid Mahogany back and sides for a balanced sound.
2. Electronics: The Fishman AQP2T pickup system provides a clear and accurate representation of the guitar's sound when amplified or recorded.
3. Versatility: The on-board electronics make the SD-50E suitable for various playing situations, from practice and recording to live performances.
Cons:1. additional cost: The inclusion of electronics causes an increase in the price point compared to the SD-50.
2. Weight: Due to the electronics, the SD-50E may weigh slightly more than the SD-50.
3. Potential Feedback: Since the SD-50E has a built-in pickup system, it's more susceptible to feedback during live performances, especially when using powerful amplifiers or microphones.
In conclusion, both the Larrivee SD-50 and SD-50E offer excellent sound quality and playability but cater to different playing needs. The SD-50 is an ideal choice for acoustic purists who don't require electronics, while the SD-50E is a more versatile option for those who need the convenience of on-board electronics for live performances and recording sessions. Ultimately, it boils down to your personal preferences and playing style. If you can afford the extra cost and prefer an amplified sound, the SD-50E is the recommended choice. Otherwise, the SD-50 is an excellent solid wood acoustic guitar for those who wish to focus solely on the pure tone of the instrument.
You won't find this guitar at a better price for the condition it's in. They sell new for very lightly used, hard to find Larrivee sd 50 with electronics installed by the dealer. The case is in almost new condition, too, with a few small scratches and one ding that is shown in the photos. Beautiful, sweet, powerful sound.
This is the solid wood Larrivee with the nut width and 12 frets to the body. Order now before this beauty is gone. No dings or dents whatsoever. I've owned this guitar for less than a year and it has rarely come out of its case.
I'm only selling because i'm moving to the cold north soon and want to replace all my wood guitars with carbon fiber.
