Overall, this handsome guitar is in remarkable condition. His seminal book on guitar repair is on virtually every Luthier workbench.

The dramatic hand carved bridge has individual saddles for each pair of strings for improved intonation. The adjustable mahogany neck has a tree of life fingerboard. Padauk is an exotic wood highly prized by many high end guitar makers for its tonal quality and beauty. However, as a precaution, a support truss has been added to prevent any further change.

Because of the wood rarity, some guitar makers, today, charge extra to build a guitar out of it. For sale is a rare, one of a kind, Handcrafted 12 string guitar built in 1976 by Master Luthier Barry Lipman, one of the premier Luthier in the country. More importantly, there are no cracks in the wood.

It comes with its original tan custom hard shell case. This 40 year old 12 string has a cedar top and an african padauk wood body. This isn unusual it happens to many 12 string guitars. Only minor scratches that you'd expect on a guitar this age.

This doesn't affect the action or play ability. Lipman designed the back padauk wood with an extension that seamlessly includes covering the bottom of the neck heel. That really nice touch. I know this guitar is not for everyone.

Other examples of the quality materials used throughout are a fisherman piezo under bridge pickup and gold plated schaller tuners although, I admit, the gold plating is showing signs of age. Over the years, though, the tension of the twelve strings has caused the top to bow slightly at the bridge. The binding on the body is carefully formed wood, instead of the more commonly used ivories or plastic. It meant for a guitar player who would appreciate the unique opportunity of having a custom made guitar instead of a mass produced one.
