The J65-12 Guild Historic Series 1966 Fender-designed Jazz Bass, also known as the "BOamer" or "Mexican '66 reissue," is a popular bass model among musicians. Here are some pros and cons that might help you make an informed decision about buying this bass:

Pros:

1. Affordable: Compared to the original 1966 Fender Jazz Bass, the J65-12 Guild Historic Series model is more budget-friendly.

2. Authentic design: This bass boasts an authentic Fender-designed set neck, dual single-coil pickups, adjustable bridge saddles, and other features that mirror the classic Jazz Bass design.

3. Quality components: While not exactly the same as the original, the components used in this bass, such as the tuning machines, bridge, and pickups, offer good performance for their price point.

4. Variety of finishes: Guild offers the J65-12 in various finishes, allowing buyers to choose a bass that matches their preferred aesthetic.

5. Comfortable playing experience: The 34-inch scale length and 1 3/4-inch nut width make this bass a great choice for those who prefer a more compact and comfortable neck size.

Cons:

1. Limited sound customization: The J65-12 lacks some of the tonal versatility that comes with more expensive Jazz Bass models, such as active electronics, different pickup configurations, or a larger number of tone controls.

2. Set neck construction: Some players might prefer the traditional bolt-on construction found in original Fender Jazz Basses for easier access to the truss rod, although this can be a matter of personal preference.

3. Mass-produced feel: Some users have reported that the mass-produced nature of this bass might lead to some inconsistencies in terms of manufacturing quality and individual component performance.

Conclusion:

The J65-12 Guild Historic Series 1966 Fender-designed Jazz Bass is a solid choice for players looking for an affordable instrument with a traditional Jazz Bass design. It offers a comfortable playing experience, authentic design features, and good sound quality. However, those seeking a highly customizable sound or a bass with a more natural feel might want to consider more expensive options. Ultimately, the decision to purchase this bass depends on your personal preferences, playing style, and budget.

Recommendation:

If you're in the market for an affordable Jazz Bass with a classic design, the J65-12 is definitely worth considering. It provides a good balance of affordability, authenticity, and performance for its price point. However, if you can stretch your budget or prioritize specific features, it might be worth exploring more expensive options to find a bass that better suits your needs.

Please scroll down for more hi def pics. The back and sides of the guitar are also in great condition with only a few very minor flaws see pics. Feel free to call for a in hand inspection. The top is in beautiful shape, very flat, flat tight bridge with plenty of saddle, but will have a few small dings or light scratches here and there.

These rosettes were installed in small sections, only one piece is missing and wouldn't be difficult to replace. The guitar may have minor dings, scratches and other small flaws, but way better than you would expect of a used '90s used guitar. The neck head stock are in great shape with only a few small expected flaws pictured. There is an area on the rosette where one section of the abalone inlay fell out.

The included original Guild hard case is in very good condition.

Please review all pics for the true cosmetic condition after reading this. It is a mid '90s guitar, but wan't played much over the last years, so the play wear is fairly low and was obviously well taken care of please see all pics for its true cosmetic condition. I looked and had no luck finding it.

The action is currently at the body with plenty of saddle on the bridge and its very playable from one end of the board to the other. It will have some marks, flaws scuffs here and there from moving it around, but still extremely respectable.

All latches and hinges operate properly.

This Guild j65 12 is hands down an amazing playing and sounding 12 string. Here's the run down as you can see this highly desirable Guild j65 12 is in great condition with no major flaws to note. No surprises with this sale. Everything operates as it should, and has never had, nor does it have any breaks or repairs unless noted above.

The original gold hardware is still in great condition showing only minor discoloration see pics. The original frets are in great shape, showing only minor wear see pics.

The truss rod operates as it should and it plays great up and down the finger board.
