Pros and Cons of Buying a Gibson CS-336 from 2002: A Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitar

Introduction:

The Gibson CS-336, a semi-acoustic electric guitar produced in 2002, is an excellent choice for musicians seeking versatility and a rich, dynamic sound. However, like any instrument, it has its advantages and disadvantages. In this analysis, we'll review the key pros and cons of investing in a Gibson CS-336 guitar from 2002.

Pros:

1. Authentic Gibson Craftsmanship: Gibson is renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship, and the CS-336 is no exception. With a solid Mahogany body and a Maple top, this guitar boasts superior tonal qualities and durability.

2. Versatile: The Gibson CS-336 is both an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar, providing the best of both worlds. It is perfectly suited for playing in various genres and situations, such as live performances or studio recordings.

3. Dual-Action Pickups: Equipped with Gibson's humbucker and P-90 pickups, the CS-336 offers versatile tone options. Players can switch between the powerful and thick humbucker sound for electric guitar tones or the clearer and more articulate P-90 sound for acoustic guitar tones.

5. Playability: The CS-336 features a Slim Taper D-Profile neck, ensuring comfortable playability for most hand sizes and playing styles.

Cons:

1. Expensive: The Gibson CS-336 is a premium instrument, and the price tag reflects its high-quality materials and craftsmanship. For beginners or those on a tight budget, this guitar may not be the best investment.

2. Heavy: The CS-336's solid Mahogany body and hardware components contribute to its substantial weight, making it less ideal for long gigs or extended sessions.

3. Limited Fretboard Radius: The CS-336's 12-inch radius fretboard may not accommodate alternate playing styles, such as bending strings or playing chords with heavy barre finger placement.

Conclusion:

When considering the Gibson CS-336 from 2002, it's crucial to weigh the advantages against the disadvantages. Its legendary Gibson craftsmanship, versatility, and captivating design make it a desirable instrument for professional and serious hobbyist musicians. However, its high price, weight, and more limited fretboard radius may deter those on a budget or with smaller frames. Ultimately, the decision to buy the CS-336 will depend on your personal preferences, playing style, and budget.

Recommendation:

If you're a musician in need of a versatile, dynamic guitar for live performances, studio recordings, or both, the Gibson CS-336 from 2002 could be an exceptional investment. Its high-quality craftsmanship, authentic Gibson sound, and versatile pickup system provide superior tone and broad tonal capabilities. However, ensure that the investment aligns with your budget and playing requirements before making a decision.

Details:

The case is original and has a few scratches here and there, but hey that is what the case is for, to protect the guitar and it has done a wonderful job. The lock plate is scratched up but functions normally.

I am just a very average guitarist and this needs to go to someone who will love it and let it sing the way it is meant. This item is only available to lower 48 USA buyers. Two Gibson classic humbugging pickups Gibson two tone pot, two volume pot, a three way selector switch control configuration and abbr 1 bridge nickel hardware single ply binding on body top and back one piece mahogany neck with 22 fret rosewood fingerboard I bought this from a friend who ran into money troubles and it is so nice that I don't play it.

Currently the lock is set to open on but can be set to whatever you want assuming you want to put the latch back on. There are no major dings or flaws to speak of, the hamburgers show wear from being played by the previous owner and as mentioned earlier above all the nickel hardware shows it age with a dull patina which is expected from an older Gibson guitar. The original serial number is present on the back of the head stock it is covered in the photos for my protection.

75 scale length , inch wide 43mm nut. Faded cherry, flame top figured, nickel hardware this is a beautiful guitar and I hate to let it go but I have to many toys and to little time.

An overall body size that is 13 inches wide, 16 inches long, and 1 11 16th inches deep. The action on this guitar is nice but once again everyone has different playing preferences. Please carefully read the item condition before buying.
