Gibson EC Songwriter Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2007)

The Gibson EC Songwriter Acoustic-Electric Guitar from the year 2007 is a popular choice among musicians due to its unique blend of acoustic and electric capabilities. In this analysis, we'll discuss the pros and cons of this guitar model.

Pros:

1. Versatile: The EC Songwriter offers the advantages of both acoustic and electric guitars. This means that you can play it as a regular acoustic for the authentic, rich tone or switch to electric mode for plugged-in performances or recording.

2. Quality Construction: This Gibson model is known for its high-quality construction. It features a solid Sitka spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, and a Mahogany neck. The guitar has a Richlite fingerboard and bridge, contributing to its durability.

3. Electronics: The LR Baggs Element pickup system provides excellent sound quality when playing electrically. It ensures a clear and authentic representation of the guitar's acoustic tone.

4. Playability: The EC Songwriter features a Slim Taper neck profile and 12-fret neck joint, making it comfortable to play, especially for those with smaller hands or for extended gigs.

5. Aesthetic Appeal: With its classic Gibson design, the EC Songwriter boasts an attractive appearance that is desirable for many musicians.

Cons:

1. Price: Gibson guitars, in general, tend to be on the pricier side. The EC Songwriter is no exception, which may make it less accessible to those with smaller budgets.

2. Weight: The solid wood construction, combined with the additional electronics, results in a heavier guitar compared to its solid body electric counterparts. This may impact portability for some musicians.

3. Action Setup: Some customers have reported issues with the setup out of the box. Therefore, it might be required to have the guitar professionally set up to ensure optimal playability.

4. Action Stability: The bridge and saddle might require adjustments over time, particularly due to the string tension during electrified play.

Conclusion:

Upon considering the pros and cons, the Gibson EC Songwriter Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2007) presents a compelling choice for musicians seeking both acoustic and electric capabilities in a single instrument. While it has several advantages, such as its versatility, high-quality construction, and desirable features, it also comes with notable disadvantages, including its higher price point, heavier weight, and potential setup needs.

Recommendation:

If you're looking for a versatile, high-quality guitar with both acoustic and electric capabilities, the Gibson EC Songwriter Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2007) could be an excellent option. Keep in mind that it comes with a higher price tag and potential setup requirements. Consider your budget, playing style, and preferences before making a final decision. Alternatively, you may explore other options in the same price range, such as Martin or Taylor acoustic-electric guitars, to find the guitar best suited for your needs.

Details:

Shiny black lacquer finish with mother of abalone inlay. The front and back of the body look great. The frets and fret board look good again could use a dusting. On board Lr bags electronics make the songwriter ec special ready for any gig.

The songwriter ec special acoustic electric guitar has a classic Gibson square shoulder dreadnought body with a soft cutaway for full fret board access. I note only a few extremely minor dings on the back and a few scuffs on the pick guard and some minor abrasions on the front of the body. There are some scuffs in the lacquer where some of the joints meet.

Comes with Gibson acoustic hard shell case which says it was made in Canada which I note has some rough edges and scuffs and also could use a good dusting. I've photographed the areas where the black lacquer has chipped two spots typical from play where your hand would hold the head stock on the back edges and on the very bottom of the guitar probably from a rough stand.

Your credit card bill will list bell port jewelers as the store.

This American beauty will inspire any song smith for years to come.

Members of the American numismatic association, American stamp dealers association, dicta, American philatelic society and jewelers of America. Most importantly though the guitar plays smoothly and sounds exactly like a Gibson should.

Coins stamps currency jewelry both new antique.

The head stock looks excellent I note it could use a good dusting and the Grover gold toned tuning pegs could use some polishing. The serial number is and is also engraved into the neck so body and neck match.

The guitar clearly was not played a lot since there are virtually no dings anywhere.
