The Takamine EC132SC Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a magnificent instrument that combines the traditional sound of a classical guitar with the modern convenience of a built-in pickup system. This model, part of Takamine's elite GD20 Series, boasts a solid cedar top, rosewood back and sides, and a Venetian-style cutaway for easy access to the upper Frets.
Beginning with its construction, the EC132SC showcases Takamine's dedication to craftsmanship. The solid cedar top offers a rich, warm tone and outstanding projection. Cedar is particularly prized for its ability to produce a mellow, soft sound with excellent clarity and a strong fundamental tone. The guitar's rosewood back and sides contribute to a resonant, balanced tone with strong lower frequencies and natural warmth.
The neck on this instrument is designed for optimal playability and comfort. Measuring 52mm (1.969 inches) at the nut, the narrow and tall frets make it easier for players with smaller hands to navigate the fretboard. The guitar's Venetian cutaway allows for easy access to the upper frets, making more complex fingerings and soloing a breeze.
The EC132SC is not just a beautiful and tonally dynamic instrument; it's also plug-and-play ready. This guitar features Takamine's TPK-B pickup system, which includes an under-saddle pickup and a built-in preamp with a discrete 3-band equalizer. This setup delivers an accurately represented, amplified sound that retains the guitar's natural tonal qualities, ensuring that your performances are both powerful and authentic.
Additional high-quality features include a tortoiseshell pickguard, an Abalone rosette, and gold hardware. Together, these details elevate the aesthetic appeal and overall look of the EC132SC, making it a stunning centerpiece in any musical setting.
In summary, the Takamine EC132SC Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a must-have for any player seeking the perfect blend of classical tone, comfort, and modern functionality. With its solid cedar top, rosewood back and sides, comfortable neck, built-in pickup system, and elegant design, it's an instrument that will not only sound beautiful but also inspire your music for years to come.
The EC132SC Takamine Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a versatile and high-quality instrument that caters to both classical guitar playing techniques and the convenience of having an electric pickup for amplification. Here are some pros and cons to help you make an informed decision:
Pros:1. Versatile: With its unique "Classical Cutaway Dreadnought Body" design, the EC132SC offers the superior tone and playing experience of a classical guitar while also providing the larger body and sound projection of a dreadnought.
2. Electrified: The onboard preamp and undersaddle pickup system allows for effortless amplification of your acoustic sound, ideal for live performances or recording in various settings.
3. Solid Top: The solid Sitka spruce top ensures superior tone and resonance, providing increased clarity and volume.
4. Quality construction: The EC132SC boasts a solid cedar back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, and bridge, all contributing to a classic and rich sound.
5. Playability: The narrow joint neck profile and 52mm nut width make for a comfortable playing experience, especially appealing for those transitioning from nylon string classical guitars to steel string acoustic-electrics.
Cons:1. Price Point: The EC132SC falls at a higher price point, making it a more significant investment compared to some entry-level acoustic guitars.
2. Strings: Due to its steel strings, it may not cater to those who prefer the softer, warmer tones of a standard classical guitar.
3. Set-up Required: As with any new guitar, proper set up is essential for optimal playing experience. This includes actions, intonation, and truss rod adjustments, which may require additional costs.
4. Switch and Volume Control: Some users have reported issues with the toggle switch and volume control, causing inconsistent sound, and may need replacement or repair.
Conclusion:The EC132SC Takamine Classical Acoustic-Electric Guitar showcases a perfect balance between the traditional tones of a classical guitar and the modern convenience of electric amplification. Its versatility, quality construction, and improved playability make it a great investment for advanced players looking to expand their repertoire or for those wishing to transition to a more versatile acoustic-electric guitar. However, its higher price point and potential issues with the toggle switch and volume control should be considered before making a purchase.
Recommendation:If you are a seasoned classical guitarist looking to enter the realm of acoustic-electric guitars, the EC132SC Takamine could be an excellent choice for its versatility, superior craftsmanship, and authentic sound. It is a solid investment but carefully evaluate your budget, existing gear setup, and set up requirements to ensure a truly enjoyable and rewarding playing experience.
Rare opportunity to buy the nicest preowned Takamine I have ever seen. Not this one.
Unlike the newer model's of many guitars, this Takamine has a solid one-piece neck and does not have pegged on head stock. This one won't last. Even the case, which is a lovely chocolate brown and plush, of very high quality has no dings, or any sign wear. This Takamine has absolutely zero playing wear and is in as new condition.
Onboard electronics include eq and built in tuner a 9 volt battery is needed. This guitar has a retail price of 2,153.
This Takamine is beautiful, has a wide-range sweet voice, and plays like dream. Beautiful solid indian rosewood sides and back with a lovely Canadian cedar top finer tak, short of brand new in music store, can not be found. I am absolutely honest in all and have an impeccable reputation for accurately representing the items sell.
Especially on high ticket items. The guitar will only sound better and as it is played opens up. It is virtually unplaced and in flawless condition.
