Review TAYLOR

The Taylor 812-C, introduced in 1994, is a highly esteemed guitar from the renowned American luthier, Bob Taylor and his company, Taylor Guitars. This specific model belongs to the Grand Concert series, which is characterized by its pleasingly compact size that strikes a perfect balance between full sound and easy portability.

Crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top, this guitar offers excellent tone projection and response. The top provides an even tonal balance with remarkable clarity and Dele ument harmony, making it an ideal choice for various playing styles and genres.

The back and sides of the 812-C are made of layered eucalyptus, a sustainable choice of material that delivers an appealing midrange tonality and strong fundamental tone. Eucalyptus, being denser than other commonly used tonewoods, ensures that the guitar maintains a sturdy structure while retaining a pleasing appearance.

One of the most distinct features of this Taylor 812-C model is its Compensated TusqTM bridge with an ebony saddle and a bone nut. This bridge design provides enhanced intonation and pitch stability, allowing for accurate and precise tuning. The 24.875" scale length, 16" radius fretboard, and 1-11/16" nut width make this instrument not only visually appealing but also comfortable to play for guitarists with smaller hands or those who favor a more "common" feel.

In regards to aesthetics, the 812-C boasts an elegant layout with Italian acrylic dot inlays and a sleek satin finish that enhances the beauty of its eucalyptus back and sides. The guitar showcases the unique and sophisticated blend of art and craftsmanship that Taylor has become known for within the acoustic guitar community.

Equipped with the Taylor ES-T electronics system, this Grand Concert model boasts impressive amplified sound quality. The onboard preamp features a volume control and a low-profile mic system that delivers a balanced and natural amplification of this guitar's rich tone. The built-in tuner ensures that you are always in tune, even when performing on stage.

In summary, the Taylor 812-C, a grand concert size guitar from 1994, brings together sustainably sourced materials, artistic craftsmanship, innovative technology, and unmatched playability. This instrument delivers a versatile, full-bodied tone while offering a compact, portable design, making it a renowned favorite among guitarists and collectors alike.

1. Possible Wear and Tear: A used guitar may exhibit signs of wear and tear, such as scratches, dings, or worn frets, which could diminish its appearance and impact its playing condition. However, these issues can often be addressed through professional restoration services.

2. Unknown History: When purchasing a used guitar, the potential buyer cannot be entirely certain about its past, such as whether it was properly maintained or subjected to extreme temperatures, humidity levels or environmental factors. These conditions can impact the guitar's condition over time.

3. Limited Customization: Unlike buying a new guitar, a used 1994 Taylor 812 may not offer the opportunity for custom specifications, such as special wood combinations, neck shapes, or electronics, which some musicians may prefer.
